Connect using the name: Click the Finder icon in the Dock to open a Finder window. In the Locations section of the sidebar, click Network, double-click the Mac you want to share, then click Share Screen.
If someone else is already connected to the Mac as a remote user, a dialog asks if you want to share the display with the other remote user (Share Display) or log in concurrently using a different user name and screen (Log In).
Turn Scaling On/Off: With scaling on, the entire screen of the shared Mac is displayed on your screen. With scaling off, the shared screen is displayed full size, and might require you to scroll to see everything on the shared screen.
Websites often include code to detect browser version to adjust the page design sent according to the user agent string received. This may mean that less popular browsers are not sent complex content (even though they might be able to deal with it correctly) or, in extreme cases, refused all content. Thus, various browsers have a feature to cloak or spoof their identification to force certain server-side content.
Note: Wikimedia has recently[when?] had a large percentage of unrecognised browsers, previously counted as Firefox, that are now assumed to be Internet Explorer 11 fixed in the February 2014 and later numbers. And February 2014 numbers include mobile for Internet Explorer and Firefox (not included in Android). Chrome did not include the mobile numbers at that time while Android does since there was an "Android browser" that was the default browser at that time.
TheCounter.com identifies sixteen versions of six browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Netscape, and Konqueror). Other browsers are categorised as either "Netscape compatible" (including Google Chrome, which may also be categorized as "Safari" because of its "Webkit" subtag) or "unknown". Internet Explorer 8 is identified as Internet Explorer 7. Monthly data includes all hits from 2008-02-01 until the end of the month concerned. More than the exact browser type, this data identifies the underlying rendering engine used by various browsers, and the table below aggregates them in the same column.
Many recent browser versions include their own, native PDF plug-ins that automatically replace the Acrobat and Reader plug-in from Adobe. Installing Firefox 19 or later, for instance, can result in your Adobe plug-in being disabled and replaced. Browser plug-ins typically do not support all PDF capabilities or offer comparable features. If you experience the following problems, you may need to revert to the Adobe plug-in:
Click the Action column next to Portable Document Format (PDF), and then select an application to open the PDF. For example, to use the Acrobat plug-in within the browser, choose Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox).
Like all TOR browsers, Onion Browser is missing some features and abilities, and not all websites will work as expected or render correctly within the app. That is done to try and mitigate data and IP leaking, and so turning off various abilities in whatever Tor browser is necessary.
Airplay is a wireless communication that allows you to share multimedia of the iOS device to the Apple TV. After the release of Airplay 2 in 2018, it enables screen mirroring of the iOS to other Apple devices.
The macOS Monterey is an Apple desktop operating system for personal computers designed by Apple Inc. The macOS Monterey is an Apple new feature of focus mode, live text, share play, and the ability to AirPlay from an iPhone or iPad to Mac without using third-party apps.
Adapt quality: As I said above you can choose this if you prefer smooth screen share experience over slower networks. Adaptive quality adapts the quality of screen share to the bandwidth available.
To share a different tab to your TV, you must first stop casting the current tab. To do this, select the Chromecast icon again, then select the blue circle and square. Once you have disconnected, go to the new tab you want to share and repeat steps 5 and 6.
From time to time you will hear of big profile trojans, malware, and ransomware that is targeting the Windows world, very rarely is this a threat to Macs. For example, the worldwide WannaCry/WannaCrypt ransomware attack that hit back in May 2017 was only targeting Windows machines and therefore no threat to Macs.
When: February 2017. What: X-agent malware was capable of stealing passwords, taking screenshots and grabbing iPhone backups stored on your Mac. Who: The malware apparently targeted members of the Ukrainian military and was thought to be the work of the APT28 cybercrime group, according to Bitdefender.
Search Baron is a browser hijacker affecting Mac devices that redirects your homepage to searchbaron.com when opening web browsers. You may also see sponsored content when trying to search the Internet, and may slow down Mac performance.
It's a common complaint that in recent versions of Mac OS 10.x, browsing Windows-hosted SMB shares is incredibly slow. Not every solution works, but here are 3 simple fixes that completely solved the issue for me (Using Windows Server 2012 & 2012R2 with Mac OS X 10.9 & 10.10).
This solved the issue for me too. However, if use Hamachi to access the file shares from another country, I have to wait 2 or 3 minutes for the folders to show up. Then when the folders do show up and I open another folder, I have to wait again for those folders to show up.However, using Hamachi from a windows computer, there is no wait time for folders to show up. Any resolution for this?
If you're running a resource-heavy application such as Photoshop, or have a browser with loads of tabs open, then the fans might very well be just doing their job. After all, without them, your Mac could quickly wither and die.
Mozilla Firefox is another popular browser, coming in at a distant second place behind Chrome in terms of global market share, claiming nine percent of the desktop and laptop market. Firefox is cross-platform, available on Mac, Windows, and Linux (as well as mobile platforms), and is developed by the non-profit Mozilla Foundation. (Firefox is actually a descendant of the Netscape browser that was popular in the early days of the web.)
One unique feature of Waterfox is that it retains compatibility with the older style Firefox add-ons (for which Firefox dropped support in version 57 in late 2017), in addition to being compatible with newer style extensions built with the WebExtensions API (i.e. designed for compatibility with Chrome, Opera, or the latest version of Firefox). The support for older style extensions may be dropped eventually, but for now the lead developer of Waterfox plans to maintain the current version of the browser (which is based on Firefox 56), and will soon release a version of Waterfox based on Firefox 68 ESR; the latter will require legacy extensions to be ported, but will add additional features introduced in more recent versions of Firefox.
If privacy is particularly important to you, then Brave is a great choice, because it defaults to give out as little user data as possible and comes with built-in features that have to be added onto most other browsers.
But the question of compatibility and how you synchronize data across your devices means that you need to consider which web browsers also work on iOS, if you also use an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. See our companion article, Is Safari the most private browser for iPhone and iPad?
Occasionally, neither Microsoft Teams nor macOS prompts to share your camera, microphone and screen. That means Teams cannot access the camera and microphone and cannot screen share. Without these permissions in place, your Mac may show a spinning wheel in Teams. You can manually set up access by following these steps.
Quick, easy and painless. A couple of steps after I could mirror my screen without any difficulties. Apart from the expected small delay, the image was good and I could work on my Mac while the TV was mirroring a video through a browser.
Also, if you know a page will use less power in a specific browser or want to open certain links directly in apps, without opening your browser, you can use helpers like OpenIn that allow you to designate open actions. Set default browsers for specific domains, select the browser you want to open your link to in the moment, and more configurations for your openings with OpenIn.
If your Mac overheats when playing games, first cross check the specs of your Mac with the specs your game manufacturer lists as ideal for playing the game. Next, close other apps, including browsers, to see if that can help. Go through steps outlined above to see if you can fix the overheating. If overheating persists or is too intense, take your device to service.
